From Skepticism to Seeing: Why We Created the WeldComputer Evaluation Program (and Why It Matters More Than Ever)
For years, we at WeldComputer have been driven by a simple mission: to revolutionize resistance welding and show manufacturers how to optimize their operation.
We’ve witnessed firsthand the remarkable improvements our technology delivers – enhanced weld quality, increased efficiency, and significant cost reductions.
However, we’ve also encountered a common hurdle: understandable skepticism.
We’d explain the potential for minimizing scrap, achieving consistent welds, and lowering energy consumption, only to be met with cautious interest. Phrases like “it sounds promising“, or “we’re not currently experiencing major issues” were common.
One potential customer expressed interest in the adaptive functions, but emphasized the need for concrete proof of benefits to justify any investment due to concerns around real-world validation, beyond mere assumptions.
They brought up industry standards, market adoption, potential production disruptions, and the system’s ability to address root causes like fit-up and electrode wear… all valid thoughts, but these are all the things we can actually help them solve for with our solutions!
We needed a way to shift the conversation from hypothetical “could”s to demonstrable “can”s. A more direct, hands-on approach is necessary for our industry.
Seeing is Believing
This realization led to the creation of our new WeldComputer Evaluation Program – a program built on the principle that direct experience is the most powerful form of persuasion.
We designed this program to directly address the valid concerns we were hearing and provide tangible evidence of our technology’s effectiveness.
Now you can try out the WeldComputer Control in your environment, on your machine, with your resistance welding process, to truly see the impact switching to the WeldComputer control is able to have.
Customer Success
Ronnie Harris from McCorvey Sheet Metal was previously a skeptic-turned-believer who tested the evaluation unit on his seam welders. After plugging in the evaluation unit, McCorvey maintained a Power Factor efficiency level of 85-90% without any drops, and saw a 74% improvement in their power factor by simply replacing the control on the same machine.
“I didn’t believe the magic. I thought [WeldComputer] was selling snake oil, and I had to see it to believe it,”
– Ronnie Harris, Resistance Welding Manager, McCorvey Sheet Metal
“It was theoretically impossible. But WeldComputer proved it to me. I had to double check to make sure we were welding. I stood there looking at the meter baffled,” said Harris. “We had our electrician take a look to confirm we went from welding at a RMS amperage of 260 down to just 65 amps!”
How the Program Works:
The WeldComputer Evaluation Program is easy and structured to give you a comprehensive and risk-free assessment in your own environment to give you true, real-world results:
- Application Review & Needs Assessment: The process begins with a detailed discussion to understand your specific welding applications, challenges, and goals. This involves reviewing your current welding processes, materials, and production requirements. This initial consultation helps determine if the WeldComputer system is a good fit for your needs.
- On-Site Evaluation (Optional): While often not required, an on-site visit by WeldComputer engineers can be arranged for a time and materials cost. This allows for a more in-depth assessment of your welding equipment and processes. Our experts can observe your operations firsthand to gather preliminary data, and make recommendations to improve your overall welding operation.
- Trial System Installation and Training: Your maintenance person can easily hook up the WeldComputer control system on one of your existing welding machines. This is a temporary installation for the evaluation period. Additionally, WeldComputer provides comprehensive training for your team on how to operate and utilize the system effectively. It provides an opportunity to see the control in actual production, removing any question about how it will improve the performance of your welding jobs on your machine.
- Data Collection and Analysis (with Weld Analysis Report): During the trial period, the WeldComputer system collects extensive data on each weld. This data is then analyzed by WeldComputer engineers, who provide a detailed Weld Analysis Report. This report quantifies the improvements achieved, including metrics such as weld consistency, energy consumption, and potential cost savings.
- Review and Consultation: After the trial, WeldComputer reviews the Weld Analysis Report with your team. This provides an opportunity to discuss the results, answer any questions, and determine the next steps.
